Overwatch 2 has received several crossover events in recent months. With each event that passes, we get an array of new uniquely themed skins for the roster of characters. But which crossover event rains supreme when it comes to character skins? In this list, we will delve into each crossover event and provide a list of what we think are some of the best.
One-Punch Man
One-Punch Man crossover event was the first anime collaboration that graced Overwatch 2 in March 2023. This event saw four skins based on the popular anime series. Mumen Rider Solider 76 was earned by participating in the free event challenge, whereas the other three, Terrible Tornado Kiriko, Genos Genji and Saitama Doomfist, were shop exclusives. Undoubtedly, the best skin in this bunch was Saitama Doomfist, as it fused the main character Saitama, who is known for having a formidable punch, with the Overwatch 2 character Doomfist, who predominantly uses his robotic fist to attack adversaries. It was simple, but a genius, move. Plus, seeing Doomfist wear a full-body yellow jumpsuit is hilarious.
Diablo
In Season 7: Rise of Darkness of Overwatch 2 (October 2023), we got eight Diablo-exclusive skins tied with the Halloween event. As many of you already know, the Diablo franchise is one of Blizzard’s other gaming properties, so this crossover event was naturally going to happen. However, these skins felt so gritty and gothic that it still strangely felt surprising. Obviously, some of the standouts were Butcher Roadhog and Inarius Pharah, but hands down, the best skin was Lilith Moria Skin. There was something eerie and sinister about how they depicted Moria in this skin, which felt like the perfect amalgamation of these beloved Blizzard franchises.Â
Transformers
Overwatch in disguise! This crossover event with the juggernaut cartoon series Transformers arrived on Overwatch 2 on July 9, 2024. This collaboration event saw four new skins join the game: Reinhardt as Optimus Prime, Ramattra as Megatron, Bastion as Bumblebee and lastly, Illari as Arcee. All these skins are shop exclusives that can be purchased with Overwatch Coins. It’s a real toss-up to decide which one is best here, as they are all great, but Reinhardt as Optimus Prime slightly edges out the competition. Reinhardt’s physique syncs up perfectly with Optimus Prime, making the character look extremely formidable and powerful. Also, seeing Reinhardt’s hammer decked out with Optimus Prime’s coloring palette will make you want to have hammers appear and become a permanent fixture for Transformers.
Cowboy Bebop
At the top of the list is the most recent anime collaboration with Cowboy Bebop, which happened in March 2024. Again, this crossover event had four skins: Jet Mauga, Ed Sombra, Faye Ashe and Spike Cassidy. Even though Ed Sombra is an excellent skin that depicts the spirit of the original character well, the best skin, by far, is Faye Ashe. These character aesthetics blend into one another perfectly, creating a very cool but badass-looking character. It could be argued that it is one of the best skins in the entire game and should definitely be your go-to skin for Ashe if you have it. Â
Overwatch 2 is available right now for free on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The Transformers collaboration event is only available for a limited time.
