In the first few hours of release fans were struggling to get English text to show up in Trails through Daybreak on PC. This quick guide should help when running into any language issues.
The English localization patch for the PC version of Trails through Daybreak was released late, becoming available at 10 a.m. on July 5. Therrefore, if you tried to play the game before this on PC you’d only have access to the Japanese text.
However, with the patch now released you should try the game again. Ideally, the problem fixes itself and you’re on your way. But, if you’ve already played around with some settings you may need to change to English manually.
How to change text from Japanese to English in Trails through Daybreak
Thankfully, this process is straightforward. You don’t have to go any further than the title menu either.
To change the text from Japanese to English, follow these steps:
- From the main menu, navigate to the second choice from the bottom, which is the system menu for Trails through Daybreak. This menu houses various options for adjusting the game’s audio and video settings.
- Within the system menu, the first option on the first page is the language setting. Select this option to open the language settings menu.
- After selecting English, the game will prompt you, in Japanese, to confirm the change and restart the game. Choose the first option to confirm.
- The game will then restart in English.
These steps can be performed at any time, allowing you to switch between languages as needed. Additionally, you can use the system menu to change the audio language to Japanese if you prefer to keep the original voice acting while reading English text.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is available on the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.
