A Junji Ito and Yoshiki Fujimoto collaboration figure of Tomie will come out in May 2025. You’ll be able to pre-order it from Mamegyorai and it’ll cost 37,400 JPY (around $241.70). [Thanks, Comics Natalie!]
Yoshiki Fujimoto is a sculptor, as well as a fan of Junji Ito’s work. In turn, Ito also likes Fujimoto’s sculptures. With Ito supervising the entire project, Fujimoto worked on both the model and the colors for this statue of Tomie. It’s around 10.6 inches tall, which includes the stand. The stand itself looks like Tomie is standing on the bloody upper halves of her classmates. Meanwhile, she’s posing like she’s brushing her hair behind her shoulder. According to Mamegyorai’s description, this is the “definitive figure” of Tomie.
Tomie is the main and titular character from Junji Ito’s Tomie manga series. There have been multiple adaptations since its original release in 1987, and Tomie as a character has appeared in other works due to her popularity. The story follows the beautiful Tomie, who drives people mad with love and jealousy towards her. No matter how many times Tomie dies, she regenerates in order to continue the cursed cycle.
The Tomie statue is open for pre-order from Mamegyorai and it’ll come out in May 2025.
