How to Get Started in Love Nikki: Dress Up Queen

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

With free-to-play mobile games being such a handy way to deal with what’s going on in the world while staying home and inside, Siliconera has been offering a few guides to help people get started in games we play regularly. While last time we looked at Pokemon Masters, today’s guide is about getting started in the fashion game Love Nikki: Dress Up Queen. It’s a dress-up game with some mild RPG elements, as you are collecting clothing parts and either crafting or evolving outfits with different stats to help you go through an elaborate story.

The first thing you want to do is get yourself on a schedule. Even if you don’t actually play Love Nikki every day, the game is constantly giving away full free outfits or free pulls on the gachas that reward you with new clothing parts. These sets can reward you with diamonds or, in some rare cases, additional outfit parts with different poses, so it is worth it to check in.

The next thing you want to do is play enough that you start getting some default and preset outfits together for areas like the Journey and Stylist’s Arena. Journey is the most important, as going through each of these levels and dressing up will earn you more free clothing the majority of which can combined in recipes or collected and “evolved” to create stronger, better outfits. If you get an outfit that you see wins every time with a high score, you can sail through by choosing auto options that have you tap a button to run through a Stylist’s Arena match automatically or take on between three and five Journey level matches at a time. (Also, don’t forget to do the Princess difficulty level quests alongside the Maiden ones in Journey, to get even more, better clothing!)

After that, you want to make sure you don’t neglect some other modes. Join a Stylist Association. Even if you’re a beginner, you can start working through its Commission levels and earning parts for some pretty cute outfits or use that area’s exclusive currency in its specific Shop to earn more parts. Plus, if you keep contributing and remain a member, you can participate in the Style Contest to, you guessed it, twice each week dress up to earn more bits for more outfits with all of the other members.

Dream Weaver is another area to check out. Earning points and crystals here is easy enough, with daily Institute Quest requests that involve turning in materials from duplicate clothing or buying cheap clothes from the Store. Once you have enough parts, going through the Dreamland area for free and sometimes animated extra parts that can provide huge point boosts and be worn alongside all your other normal outfit parts.

Finally, the last thing you want to do is take advantage of Momo’s Style Guide. In the top right corner of the screen is an icon for an area where Momo, Nikki’s cat friend, can hold three potential outfits you are focused on making. This way, you can quickly log in, tap the progress parts below to quickly perform a few quests until you get all the items you need or run out of stamina, and get even closer to creating cool outfits in a more effortless way.
